One of the first things you’ll discover with your new iPad or iPad 2 is there is an embarrassingly large number of choices when it comes to online book stores. I believe the iPad is the only platform available that supports all the major e-book stores which include; Amazon Kindle, Apple iBooks, Google Books, B&N Nook and so on. All of these stores have extensive collections of books for sale and offer some of the best values if you are an avid reader.
However, did you know you can also use free book stores as well? ManyBooks.net allows you to download thousands of books for free directly on your iPad. You can read these books right along side the books you’ve purchased in iBooks or your preferred reader.
To get eBooks from ManyBooks.net simple open Safari to http://ManyBooks.net and select from their current catalog of more than 29,000 books.
When you have selected a title that you’d like to read select the ePub(.epub) file type and select the download button.
After the eBook has finished downloading select the ‘Open in “iBooks”‘ button to read the book in iBooks or ‘Open in..’ to read the book in your favorite book reader.
And there you have it… your favorite classics are available in iBooks or whatever book reader you prefer. ManyBooks.net also provides instructions on their site under ‘iPad Help’ if you’d like to download the books into iTunes and then sync them to your iPad.
