The Daylight Viewfinder is a two-part solution for photography in bright sunlight or high-glare situations. One part eyepiece, and one part iPhone app. On the software side, the Daylight Viewfinder app shrinks the iPhone’s live camera image down to a size that fits under the eyepiece. The eyepiece, which attaches to the iPhone screen via suction, focuses and magnifies the image. Users looking through the eyepiece see the live camera image with camera controls superimposed on the image. A touch indicator that shows where they’re touching the phone’s display allows them to easily operate the controls.

“With Apple’s displays becoming increasingly sharper and iPhone cameras now at 8-megapixels and with full HD video resolution, these devices are clearly a more serious photography and videography platform than your typical cell phone camera,” says the inventor. “But when the sun’s out or you’re in a situation with a lot of glare, you’re reduced to guesswork in terms of composing your shot. I wanted to change that – to give iPhone users the creative control they desire.”

The company has worked hard to keep the development process localized. All of the parts but one are manufactured in Vancouver and a local seamstress makes the cloth carry pouches. The Daylight Viewfinder is 90% American made and within a month or two, when the company switches to having the one last part made locally, it will be 100% made in the USA.

The Torus rings are printed by Shapeways with a bed of powdered source material, then laser sintering the powder with a laser layer by layer, solidifying the powder as each row of the solid is formed.

Each Torus ring is approximately 4 centimeters (1.6 inches) in diameter and 1 centimeter (0.4 inches) high. The rings fit over the base hook 3d print. The hook cylinder is 8 mm wide, and the base itself is 5 centimeters (2 inches) by 5 centimeters. A unique, colorful desk set of base 3D print and achievement Tori is formed by the base and rings as you progress through the game.

The original Torus for iPhone features 5 music tracks, absorbing ambient audio surrounds you while Tori fall towards the Oakland Estuary off Jack London Square. The various Torus colors fall at different rates, the faster the Torus, the more points it’s worth. Instead of aiming the rings at a peg, the peg moves on a platform to catch the cascading Tori within the tennis court like playing field. The game uses the iPhone/iPod touch’s accelerometer to control movement of the platform: simply tilt the unit to control the platform’s movement.

Missed Tori count against health points. If you miss too many, you lose. But, if you catch glowing green Tori, your health increases. Synchronized catch, bump and miss locational sound effects combine with an intensifying pace to enhance accelerometer interaction. The deceptive simplicity of the game design and intuitive interface allow casual gamers to enjoy a commute or a break, while enabling more serious gamers to unlock the 3D printed achievements at the higher score levels.

All models available for purchase are early integration test versions. The materials are not watertight, not dishwasher safe, not recyclable, and not foodsafe. Please note that the 3D printed products are intended for decorative purposes. They are not suited to be used as toys or to be given to underage children. First, we have found so many uses for Steti that we have taken advantage of, but the primary design came from my arms falling asleep while I was holding the iPad in bed. I know this is a common problem that people share as many of the iPad or tablet owners have stated the same problem. We designed Steti to be light enough to move easily but strong enough to hold the weight of your iPad or Tablet. Steti allows you to use the camera on your device and can be placed in any position thanks to the strong flexible arm, rotating cradle, and swivel base.
